The story's about a total /ourguy/ who gets drafted into the army and has to leave his beloved mare behind. (He gets teased by the other guys because he's got her picture in his locker when they all have the >NOHOOVES, sucks to be them) Fair warning, the mare back home doesn't make it to the end of the film, but Gallant Bess shows up later to fill the hole in the poor guy's heart. 10/10 great horse movie.
